About Canal Vertex Guitar Studio

Why the studio was started
Canal Vertex Guitar Studio began in 2021 after noticing a pattern in lessons around the Netherlands: students were doing plenty of “guitar time,” but too little of it translated into cleaner playing. They could name scales, own great gear, and watch tutorials, yet rhythm stayed unstable and tone stayed inconsistent.
The studio was set up to make the week between lessons the main event. That means small modules, clear checkpoints, and a methodical approach to the unglamorous details: pick-path efficiency, muting, click alignment, and the ability to repeat a clean rep without “getting lucky.”
Zwolle was chosen intentionally. It is central for players in Overijssel and reachable from other parts of the Netherlands, and the location at Hoogstraat 91 is easy to find for regular weekly sessions.

Progress is not a longer list of topics. It is the ability to play a part cleanly on demand: consistent timing, controlled dynamics, and reliable transitions. Lessons are designed around measurable outcomes so the next session starts from real data, not guesswork.

Mission and lesson philosophy
The mission is straightforward: help players in Zwolle and across the Netherlands build dependable guitar skills that hold up outside the lesson room—at rehearsal volume, on a recording, or in a quiet living room after work. The teaching style is practical and specific. If a phrase is late, we identify the mechanical cause (right-hand motion, string-tracking, pick slant, left-hand coordination) and fix it in small, repeatable reps.
Lessons emphasize timing and sound quality before speed. That does not mean “slow forever.” It means building a clean motion first, then using a tempo ladder so speed increases without the common tradeoffs: extra noise, tense shoulders, and sloppy subdivision. Lessons are taught by specialists who work within the same studio system: assessment, weekly planning, and measurable checkpoints. Each specialist has a defined focus area so students can get precise guidance, whether the goal is tight rhythm, lead phrasing, or acoustic clarity.
Rhythm and timing specialist (8+ years)
Focuses on click alignment, subdivision, and right-hand efficiency for electric rhythm. Known for small technique adjustments that reduce noise and make palm-muted parts sit correctly with drums. Works with in-person students in Zwolle and online learners elsewhere in the Netherlands.

Lead phrasing specialist (10+ years)
Works on articulation, vibrato consistency, bends, and melodic construction. Sessions emphasize phrasing that sounds intentional at any tempo, not just fast runs. Students often use these lessons to prepare for recording takes or to make improvisation feel less random.
