Lesson and scheduling questions

Most questions fall into three buckets: how lessons are structured, how scheduling works, and how to practice between sessions. The studio keeps everything concrete: if a drill is on the plan, it has a definition of a clean rep, a tempo goal, and a reason it matters musically. Do I need prior experience to start?
No. Lessons can start from fundamentals: comfortable posture, clean fretting pressure, and stable chord transitions. Early sessions also include a simple timing routine, because it is easier to build a steady internal pulse at the start than to “unlearn” rushed habits later. For many new players in the Netherlands, the practical challenge is fitting practice into a normal week, so we keep the first plan intentionally small and repeatable.
What styles do you teach?
We teach transferable fundamentals and apply them to your preferred music. Common directions include modern rock rhythm (palm muting, subdivision, tight transitions), melodic lead phrasing (bends, vibrato, articulation), pop accompaniment (voicings and clean changes), and acoustic fingerstyle (thumb independence and dynamics). Harmony topics typically use triads, chord-tone targeting, and CAGED position links to make the fretboard predictable.
Do you offer online lessons across the Netherlands?
Yes. Online lessons are available across the Netherlands. The lesson structure stays the same: assessment, weekly plan, and targeted refinement. We focus on time, mechanics, and tone fundamentals that are visible on camera (pick path, muting strategy, fretting-hand economy). A stable connection and a camera angle showing both hands makes feedback much more precise.
How do you measure progress without guesswork?
We use tempo checkpoints and consistency rules. For example, a drill might be “eight clean reps at 96 BPM with no string noise and accurate click alignment.” That is not glamorous, but it is measurable. We then connect that drill to a riff, progression, or short musical fragment so the technique transfers into real playing. When the checkpoint is stable, we expand; when it is unstable, we refine the mechanics.
What should I bring for an in-person lesson in Zwolle?
Bring your guitar and picks. If you play electric, bring a cable. If you have a particular strap height or a pedalboard setup you rely on, feel free to bring it, but it is optional. The focus is technique, timing, and musical application rather than buying gear. Where can I see pricing?
Pricing is listed on the Pricing page. If you are unsure which option fits, request an assessment lesson. That first session helps us choose the correct focus (rhythm, lead phrasing, fingerstyle, or fretboard mapping) and set a realistic practice plan.
Do you offer packages or recurring slots?
Many students prefer a recurring weekly slot, because it makes practice planning easier. Others prefer flexible scheduling based on work or travel inside the Netherlands. When you request a lesson, mention which approach you want and we will confirm what is currently feasible.
What happens if I need to reschedule?
Life happens. If you need to change a time, email us as soon as you know. We will propose alternative slots based on availability. Because lesson time is reserved, late changes can be difficult to replace; early notice gives us the best chance to accommodate a new time in the same week.
Is there homework or material I need to buy?
The core materials are the practice plan and the musical fragments we use for application. You do not need to buy method books to start, unless you prefer a structured songbook for your own reading practice. For many students, a metronome (or metronome app) is the only “tool” we treat as essential because tempo checkpoints require a click.
